Where To Eat In Kauai - The Bistro - Kilauea

Published on June 12, 2017 by Rae-Marie May

If you're wondering where to eat in Kauai, try The Bistro in Kilauea, just a ten minute drive from Honu Point! The Bistro is located in a small, but quaint, shopping center (Kong Lung Village Center) in the heart of Kilauea town right off Lighthouse Road. Look for the stone buildings on the corner. Whether you're dining at lunch or dinner you'll find creative Euro-Pacific Rim fare in an open-air, casual space.

The Bistro Restaurant - Kilauea

Lunch is served daily from 12:00 to 2:30. The menu includes three Starters and six Salads, including a fresh beet salad (sliced beets on Kilauea greens with feta cheese mac-nuts & a lilikoi dressing). There are ten Plates to choose from including burgers, ribs and vegetable skewers.

Dinner is served daily from 5:30 to 9:00. There are seven Starters on the menu. I especially love the Fish Rockets (flashed fried, served with Asian slaw & wasabi aioli) for $10.00. Eaten with a salad, I'm good to go. The menu also includes six Small Plates, three Salads, eight Entrees and five Desserts. The Gluten Free Chocolate Decadence will most likely put a smile on the face of gluten intolerant diners.

The Bistro has a full bar with Happy Hour daily from 4:00 PM to 6:00 PM.
Live music Thursdays features slack key guitarist Pancho Graham and Soft Jazz Saturdays are alive with Mike and Pat. Reservations are recommended, especially on these two nights.

Here are two recent reviews on Trip Advisor:

We have eaten at the Bistro several times over the last four years and it only gets better. The chef keeps the menu new and fresh, with top notch ingredients. The restaurant is exactly what we enjoy for a dinner out on Kauai- romantic but casual and fun. In my opinion, it's a must for a visit to Kauai. The fact that it's a favorite of locals is a big selling point.

We frankly didn't expect much. We were hungry and this restaurant popped up. The entrance/bar was unimpressive, filled with locals not having their first drink of the day. But after being seated in the restaurant side, on what was effectively an outdoor porch with a cool breeze, we were won over. We first ordered the artichoke/olive hummus plate ("Bistro Oil Dip," $5), and it was delicious. We decided to split a Caesar salad, and it was a good one. I ordered the macadamia-coated chicken breast and liked it so much I ordered it the next time. My husband got grilled fish with a white bean and spinach side. We topped it off with the Pineapple Cobbler (much like apple, I thought), and we were so happy that we ate at The Bistro twice more during our week on Kauai. Across the walkway is a very nice handmade craft store. Don't miss this place.

The Bistro is located in the Kong Lung Village Center at 2484 Keneke St, Kilauea, HI 96754

My husband and I fell in love with Hawaii in the early eighties when we made our first trip from San Diego to the islands. In 2000 we chose Kauai as our home. We love the small town feel, great weather and beauty. We couldn't imagine living anywhere else.
