When does North Rim Grand Canyon Really Close??!

Published on September 24, 2018 by sherene@mystarvr.com

Big news for us near North Rim Grand Canyon! Due to the high elevation the North Rim Road had traditionally closed down for the Season in mid Oct. But thanks to public input, diligent travel council and a willing Park Director, The road is staying open!!

But not without caveats - the Lodge and dinning ARE closing Oct 15th. The visitors center and gift shop and campground will remain open until Dec 1, or a giant snowstorm comes. Whichever is first.

PLEASE read this park news release carefully!

Grand Canyon, AZ - North Rim operations will begin seasonal changes on the morning of October 16, 2018. The North Rim transitions to reduced services with the Visitor Center, gift shop, campground and entrance station remaining open for visitor use. The Grand Canyon Lodge, food services, Canyon Trail Rides and park ranger programming will no longer be available. These operations will resume on May 15, 2019.

If visiting the North Rim after October 15, please plan ahead and prepare your food and water for the day, purchasing these items will be extremely difficult on site.

The self-serve gas station, with diesel, will remain available but will only accept credit or debit cards as long as the road is open. Please call Arizona Highway Information to check the condition of the road, 888-411-7623.
