New Smyrna Beach has a lot of interesting history. But being from Virginia, I have a lot to learn. The New Smyrna Museum of History offers guided walking tours of 1-2 hours each in several areas of historical interest from January through April this year. I'm excited, and about to Step into History in New Smyrna Beach.
Step Intro to History in New Smyrna Beach

Tuesdays on South Riverside Drive Time: 10:30 am – 12:00 pm Place: New Smyrna Museum of History Address: 120 Sams Avenue NSB

Take a pleasant and leisurely stroll south on Riverside Drive. Our guide will tell you about historic homes, the old wharf area, and other city highlights that make New Smyrna Beach such a unique town. Your tour will return to the museum via scenic Magnolia Avenue. The tour will depart the museum at 10:30 am so be sure to be there ahead of time. The tour will last between an hour and a half and two hours. The pace is leisurely and the distance is just over a mile.

Wednesdays on Canal Street Time: 10:30 am – 12:00 pm Place: New Smyrna Museum of History Address: 120 Sams Avenue NSB

Join us for a History Walking Tour focused on the Canal Street Historic District. Learn about the railroad industry, old movie theatres, long forgotten businesses, local architecture, local characters, and much more. This is a casual walk through downtown New Smyrna Beach and lasts approximately an hour and a half. There are stops during the tour as your guide discusses local landmarks. Meet at the museum between 10:00 am and 10:30 am.

Thursdays on North Riverside Drive Time: 10:30 am – 12:00 pm Place: New Smyrna Museum of History Address: 120 Sams Avenue NSB

Take a pleasant and leisurely stroll north on Riverside Drive. Our guide will start you off with a visit to Old Fort Park and will discuss the many historic elements of this central part of the city followed by a visit to the local Masonic Lodge then take a stroll along North Riverside and enjoy the view of 100 year old homes and the area formerly known as Ronnoc Grove. The tour will depart the museum at 10:30 am so be sure to be there ahead of time. The tour will last between an hour and a half and two hours. The pace is leisurely and the distance is just over a mile.

Saturdays on Flagler Avenue Time: 10:30 am – 12:00 pm Place: Riverview Hotel & Spa 103 Flagler Avenue NSB

This tour will show you some of the historic sights and areas on, and around, Flagler Avenue. Starting at the The Riverview Hotel & Spa lobby you can learn about how the third floor was added, why is there a grave on Canova Drive, how did Canova Drive get its name, what does watch and warn mean, see a “building within a building” and more. The tour departs at 10:30 so be there ahead of time. You may pay ahead of time at the museum or see the guide at the hotel. Ticket price is $12 General Admission & $10 Seniors 65+, Students and Members. The tour lasts between an hour and a half and an hour and 45 minutes.

Ticket prices are $12 General Admission & $10 Seniors 65+, Students and Members.Reservations and walk ins are welcome. Tours paid in advance at the museum may be paid by cash or credit card. Tours paid to the guide at the Riverview may only be paid in cash. The tours will depart the locations at 10:30 am - so be sure to be there ahead of time The pace is leisurely and some of the roads and sidewalks are uneven. It is advised to wear comfortable shoes for walking The final Saturday Flagler Tour will be Saturday April 13th.
