Snorkeling on St. John is a Must

Published on September 8, 2016 by calabashcottages

My first time snorkeling on St. John, I immediately encountered a parrot fish. I had no idea such a beautiful creature existed. If you have never snorkeled before you will find many user friendly beaches where it will be easy to learn the ropes. We provide snorkel gear for our guests, and will be glad to give you suggestions for your skill level. It's truly amazing for beginners to see a whole new world under our beautiful blue sea. For beginners I would suggest snorkeling around the rocks at Francis Bay. For experienced snorkelers, it's always beautiful snorkeling around the little islands at Trunk Bay, Cinnamon Bay, and especially at Leinster Bay. Currents can definitely be stronger out wards the islands, so be safe! If you do decide to explore the Caribbean blue, take a look at the National Park's fish guide to identify the different species you saw.

Meet The Author
I first drifted to St John in 1982 with no plan whatsoever, not knowing a soul and knew right away I was home. I married my husband there in 1990. Paul is a retired builder and was responsible for the construction of all of Calabash Cottages homes. All these years later I still love my island and the great community we have here,
