The Wall of “I Love You” (Le mur des je t’aime)
The heartwarming Amélie attitude is also expressed in this 33 ft. by 13 ft. (10 m. by 4 m.) tile wall commanding attention in a romantic garden just outside the Abbesses metro station exit in Montmartre.
On the wall, which is made from tiles of enameled lava, calligraphy artist Claire Kito wrote the words “I love you” 311 times in 250 different languages.
Conceived by Frederic Baron, The Wall of “I Love You” seeks to redefine the meaning of “wall”—a structure that keeps people separated—into a place of “reconciliation, peace, and love.”
