One thing you have to do whilst you're here is to enjoy some of the freshest of the fresh local grown produce to enjoy in your Anna Maria Island Vacation Rental, and you can do that by visiting one of the local Farmers Market - it's one of the best things about the Gulf Coast

Several have enough diversity to open all year round while others only open seasonally to share their produce with visitors to Anna Maria Island. Let's take a look at what's on offer year round, we'll mention dates these markets usually open, please check with us when you arrive for any updated information we may have.

Anna Maria Island Markets

Bridge Street Market

(Sundays from 10am-3pm, November to April)

Now a well known Bradenton Beach Tradition Bridge Street Market is well worth a visit.  It’s quite an arty market where you will find sculpture, photography, mixed media art and all kinds of other unique items from local vendors that may be perfect for a memento of your trip to Anna Maria Island. If you're looking to cook whilst you're in your Anna Maria Island Beach Rental this is a great market for the more traditional fresh produce and gourmet cooking items.

There’s plenty to explore outside the market, too: Historic Bridge Street is one of the most charming and historical thoroughfares on Anna Maria Island along with Pine Avenue.

Beach Market at Coquina Beach

(Sundays from 10am-4pm, November to July)

Aside from Easter, Beach Market runs every Sunday, you can find something a little different at the eclectic Beach Market in Coquina Beach (Anna Maria Island’s most Southern Beach).

As well as an abundance of fresh produce, you can find arts and crafts, jewelry, apparel, health and beauty items and more. Unlike more crowded markets, its location makes it easily navigable for wheelchairs, walkers, and strollers. The best part? It’s accessible by the free trolley, so you can enjoy a leisurely ride and take in the sites on the way to do your shopping.

Bradenton Food Markets

Downtown Bradenton Farmers’ Market

(Saturdays from 9am-2pm, October to May)

Though Bradenton Farmers Market this market is relatively new, it has grown quickly to become known as one of the most diverse markets in the area.

With over thirty-five different vendors providing locally-grown fruits and veggies, plants, organic products, fresh seafood, and gourmet prepared foods it's such a great place to really see and enjoy a variety of local, seasonal produce. Need some food inspiration (as well as our own local Recipes Selection!) enjoy their Chef at the Market series which features chefs from local restaurants doing live demos so you can see the delicious meals you can create with products exclusively from the market. If you love art and music, be sure to come by on the third Saturday of the month to listen to local musicians and support local artists and craftspeople.

Sarasota Markets

Downtown Sarasota Farmers’ Market

(Saturdays 9am to 1pm & Wednesdays 10am to 2pm, open year-round)

For over three decades, Sarasota’s Downtown Farmers’ Market has proved itself as a vital part of the culture and economy of Sarasota. It is probably largest market in the area, and it features a real array of vendors. You can grab sweet treats in baked goods, locally-grown fruits and veggies, fresh seafood, and handmade soap all in the space of two blocks! You can even bring your knives and get them sharpened.

The newest addition and expansion of the market is an additional opening slot every Wednesday from 10am to 2pm when the market will be open at Five Points in downtown Sarasota.

Phillipi Farmhouse Market

(Wednesdays 9am to 2pm, October to April)

A very relaxed and pet-friendly, mid-week market that has something for everyone. Produce vendors are required to be growers and not resellers to be able to sell here, great all round as it supports the market’s mission of supporting local agriculture. There’s also a vast selection of prepared foods, specialty and sustainable items, and agriculture-related products. It’s one of the most curated markets the area has to offer.

Central Sarasota Farmers’ Market

(Saturdays 8am-1pm, open year-round)

One of Sarasota’s newer farmers’ markets is in a slightly different location – the parking lot of the Sarasota County Technical Institute. But its unusual location adds to the diverse charm and is actually extremely practical. It also has some of the best vendors of prepared foods in town, from Baja Boys food truck to the Purple Belle ice cream truck to the Brooklyn Knish stand. Not to be missed!

When you’re exploring the culinary delights of this area, this relatively new market is a superb place to start out.

Which one is your favorite and what did you like the most?

Meet The Author
Hi, I am Terry, my wife Sandy (who writes our blogs) are the caring, hands on owners and managers of Anna Maria Condo Rentals. We’ve been here for years, so we know Anna Maria Island, the island’s condos, and our island’s guests. We understand you – what you need, what you want, and what you’d really like to have. With us, every stay balances the rigorous requirements of professional managers with the enthusiasm, pride and personal touches of an owner-managed rental. That means that with us, you enjoy the dual benefits of an in-the-know local combined with the professionalism and expertise of a serious company. Come on down and experience the difference for yourself. Our family fell in love with Anna Maria Island the first time we visited in 1989. Every summer since, we’ve spent our vacations on this island, and in 1995, we bought our first condo here. Having a young family at the time meant we had to rent our condo to offset ownership costs. Thankfully, by offering luxurious accommodations at an affordable price, we were able to keep the condo booked for an average of 50 weeks a year. These steady bookings allowed us to purchase our second condo in 2013, and a third in 2014. While opening up these homes has allowed us to keep returning to the island—and even better, to a house that feels like home—we also truly enjoy offering a place to guests to discover Anna Maria Island and feel at home here, too.
