At Vikla They Do Golf Differently

At Vikla they do golf differently!

Despite the rainfall that Cyprus has had this winter,  water is a scarce, expensive, resource that needs to be carefully managed across the island.  At Vikla they made a decision to follow a different path to the typical verdant green golf resort with which we are all so familiar.

By using a small amount of water to keep the greens and aprons lush, allowing the fairways to naturally dry out and green up with the seasons, Vikla sets up an interesting challenge!

To answer the problem of dry fairways in the summer, fairway shots are played from artificial grass mats supplied by the Club.  Some golfers prefer to bring their own plastic 'rocket launchers'. Both of these is are excepted by the EGA and CGF for official qualifying competition play.

The course offers eighteen holes, a mix of par 3, 4 and 5 for a total of 4,616 and 4,217 respectively.

To achieve par you will need to go round in 69 shots

You can expect to pay somewhere between 25€ to 30€ a round depending on the season.

The club house offers spectacular views out over the nearby countryside. An ideal location to eat, drink and mull over your most recent round!

Expect to find Greek, English and Russian speaking golfers on this increasingly popular course.

Here's a review we found on Trip Advisor from January 2019

This course is great fun and is well worth the drive up through the mountains. It is one of the most unique courses that we have played and the views are incredible with some really interesting holes.

It is suitable for all abilities and the staff and homely clubhouse are worth the visit alone!

Thank you to all at Vikla, we will be back next time we are in Cyprus.

Of the, to date, fifty four reviews on Trip Advisor over forty rate it very good to excellent.

A lovely course which is exactly as advertised. If you're expecting lush green manicured grounds this may not be the place for you, but if you want a fun day, a challenging course with good greens, stunning scenery and a friendly welcome this is well worth a visit.

Whilst we aren't unique on Cyprus our villa serves a particular need - those who require a wheelchair and / or some other aid in order to be able to holiday. Our wheelchair accessible van has been the key that unlocks Cyprus for many of our guests. If you would like to know more about Cyprus, our experience gained from ten years living on the island provides a viewpoint which I am happy to share. Thank you for reading, Andy
