A Bird's-Eye View of the Stowe Recreation Path

The Stowe Recreation Path in scenic Stowe, Vermont is open year-round for all to enjoy, whether you’re biking, running, skiing, walking your dog or pushing a stroller. Panoramic mountain views and access to restaurants, breweries, lodges and local businesses make the 5.3 mile paved trail one of the most popular places in Stowe to breathe in the fresh mountain air and get a bit of exercise

Trail users can park at either end of the path or at one of two lots in the middle. Prefer to start at the top and travel down the gentle slope? Drive up the Mountain Road and park off Brook Road just past the Topnotch Resort and Spa. The northern trailhead is located approximately 3 miles south of the base of the world-class Stowe Mountain Resort, also know as the “Ski Capital of the East”.

Rather head up the path? Park behind the Stowe Community Church and take some time to check out the postcard perfect village of Stowe. Before hitting the trail treat yourself to a cone at Stowe Ice Cream, you can’t miss the shop right on Main Street.

The Stowe Recreation Path follows the West Branch of the Little River, making it possible to stop at one or all of the several swimming holes along the way. Bird watchers are sure to see a variety of birds as well as other wildlife such as fox, deer, or moose along the quieter sections of the path. There are picnic tables and benches along the way, and portable restrooms are available.

From mid-summer through late fall be sure and detour off the path to challenge yourself on the Percy Farm Corn Maze!
